I would like to assist new and existing entrepreneurs.

I can help make sense of the numbers in your business, your profit and loss statements, margins and more. I know accounting and financial reporting (I am a CPA but never practiced as one, so I know accounting from a “user’s” perspective), and I designed and built several accounting systems. I can help you with software selection and implementation. I have read hundreds of commercial real estate leases and can give you guidance there (I am not a lawyer, but I know what to look for and what to look out for). And, I can help you negotiate deals. I negotiated hundreds of large transactions during my career.

I am here for the messy middle of entrepreneurship. If you are stuck between “we have an idea” and “how do we actually ship this,” I can help you clarify the next three moves. I focus on artificial intelligence strategy and implementation, permitting and government navigation, and the real estate and capital thinking that turns a concept into a plan an investor or lender can understand.

I can help clients understand and define the financial and operational foundations for building a successful business. I spent over thirty years as a senior executive responsible for finance, operations and business development. My experience includes everything from being part of very small founding teams through helping to run public companies. I have been through the full life cycle of several companies from formation to successful public offerings and acquisitions. I have been fortunate to experience periods of rapid growth and understand the issues and challenges in managing that growth. I have also learned from failures and can share those experiences and learnings with the hope of helping others avoid the same mistakes.

I’ve worked with countless small businesses and individuals as a consultant the last 25 plus years, primarily helping them with computer and networking needs as well as setup of Quickbooks and other business software. I can also help you navigate a variety of business issues, given my background as an engineer, then as a production and operations manager. As a small business owner myself, I can also help navigate a wide variety of business startup issues. I look forward to meeting and helping you!

I can assist you in evaluating financial requirements, seeking and obtaining funding, and positioning companies as a financial product.

I sold my last business around 4 years ago. I had always planned on doing some volunteer work but that put it on hold. I have been involved with 5 start up to early stage companies and would enjoy working with entrepreneurs to help them succeed.

I have been president of large companies and small companies over the last 40 + years. My wife and I moved to Santa Barbara in 2004 and bought a small retail store. We sold the store in 2016. I stayed busy with real estate projects and part time work. We really like Santa Barbara and want to contribute to the community. My wife works part-time with a SB non-profit. Because of my many years in business I feel I could best help in Santa Barbara by helping business people to solve problems, be profitable and grow.

Neil has a varied career serving as a Manufacturing Engineer, Program Manager, Operations Manager, and Contracts Manager in the Defense Industry. Neil has also been a small business owner and served as the President of the Stearns Wharf Business Association.

I want to give back to my community using the multiple business skills (business development, sales, finance and marketing) I developed over my 45 year, post-graduate business experience, ranging from large public companies to charitable organizations. I tend to look at challenges from a wide perspective and common sense approach, and, if a deep dive is needed in a particular field, I will not hesitate to bring in a fellow Score Mentor to consult and who is well-versed in that speciality.

I help owners solve business issues FAST – from basic business performance to staff and management issues. I help create space (and a sense of peace) for new solutions to arise. My skills and talents have been developed from expertise and experiences gained as an entrepreneur, business coach/consultant, executive leader at the COO and CFO levels, and, lastly, as a CPA. Through practical insights and analysis, I help owners quickly identify and solve core issues through creative practices, better communications, and self-monitored Key Performance Indicators. Ultimately, I help business operators cut through the fog of business, understand what’s wanted and needed, take the remedial steps, and then measure results. And when it’s all happening, having some fun!

After 30+ years of building and running businesses and organizations, I want to help others achieve their professional dreams of building a successful business. I have a law degree and practiced law full-time for several years but I started spending most of my professional time building and operating a law firm. While doing so I also developed significant experience in strategy development/implementation and crisis management. Prior to joining the law firm, I had experience in a national educational company where I oversaw areas including field operations and marketing.

My experience has helped me to understand and refine value propositions (what separates a client’s business from competition) across a lot of industries. I can also help with questions on banking and finance, as well as some market and technical questions in areas of agriculture and food.

Help aspiring entrepreneurs form and improve new business ideas, work as part of a volunteer team to help a business with a specific project or challenge, develop and maintain relationships with organizations in your community, develop strategies to expand SCORE’s reach and attract new volunteers.

I am a local, currently practicing, attorney and can help provide the legal background on a wide array of issues. As a workshop presenter, I am unable to give specific legal advice on any one situation but am happy to help generally explain the law that may apply to your situation. Issues that I see in my practice include corporate entity selection/funding, contract law/litigation, employment law, trademark/trade secret/copyright law, internet law, land use law, and real estate law. I will also be helping put on SCORE seminars on some of the above topics and would encourage you to attend them if your business involves any of the above areas of law.
